We picked up our CDs a few days ago and have finally, officially entered into the next phase of Luminosity’s existence. We are so happy to hear your feedback! It’s great to know that people appreciate and feel the love that we poured into this record and are experiencing the beauty from which this music was inspired.

It warms our hearts to connect with our listeners and to know that our labor of Love is inspiring others!! Thanks to all who are listening and purchasing our music. We are deeply grateful to have found our voice and to be sharing our music with the world.

Riding The Wave

We are enjoying the adventure of the early stages of sharing our music. Last week we posted our songs on BandCamp at www.luminosity.bandcamp.com. We shared the new site with our son who immediately “liked” it, and naturally, in an instant, it went out to his 5,00o facebook friends. We had not planned to share the site yet, but there it was, out there in the world, so we too posted to our facebook friends that Luminosity was available to be heard on our website and BandCamp.

We had a great response of folks listening and sharing amongst our “close” facebook friends. But suddenly there was an upsurge of people playing our music. Wow! 3,000 listens, now 4,000 listens in one day! Later in the day, when we reached almost 5,000 listens, we discovered the reason why. Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater had posted via Hoot Suite and Twitter about Luminosity! Jordan played on most of the songs on the record, and shared a link for our music with his fans!

After a huge surge of interest, things have settled down a bit. We are still in the very early stages of sharing our record and we have much to do. The CD cover is in process, and as soon as that is finished, we will send it of to be produced.

This is an entirely self-made record. We recorded it in a studio that we built from the ground up. Now in the marketing stage, we are jumping into learn all that we can about the world of marketing indie music. I think we’re in for quite a ride!!

Mastering – the art of listening deeply

What an amazing and subtle art the final mix and mastering of a record is! Learning to mix and master is a technical art, but just as critical is the ability to listen DEEPLY. If you can’t hear all the layers, then most likely, your mix is too dense, not providing enough sonic space between the parts to dive into. Or it could be that your mix is not balanced, one part is dominating to the detriment of the others…

Our inner space requires deep listening too. On first listen, our mental static will prevent us from experiencing our own inner depths. Clearing away the mental noise allows us to experience the layers of our inner Beingness. This is the essence of meditation, in my experience, and a skill that is well worth cultivating!

Into The Light

We have a deadline for mastering this record by the 12th of May. Deadlines are good. We are pushing for completion, and it feels much like giving birth. We are soon to be moving out of our dark, womb-like basement studio and into the light of day with the release of “Luminosity”.

Nearing completion

Len and I are nearing completion of our album, “Luminosity”. The record is a collection of 11 songs inspired by the great beauty of Nature, love, and our path to awakening in consciousness. The songs are gifts – beautiful melodies and poetry that express our love for the Natural world and the spiritual path.
